This position is part of The Center for the Study of American Politics (CSAP) Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program, which is affiliated with the Tobin Center/Economics Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program. PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Professor Allison Harris is hiring a predoctoral fellow to assist with her projects focusing on the institutions and policies of the American criminal legal system. These projects include a book about racial diversity among judges and criminal sentencing decisions, a coauthored book about reincorporating individuals with felony convictions into political life, and the early stages of a new project on bureaucratic task forces and policing.

The predoctoral fellow’s tasks will include qualitative and quantitative data collection, including internet searches to located information for datasets; data cleaning and coding in line with the fellow’s abilities, which will be supported through mentorship and training opportunities; project management and working with undergraduate research assistants; and literature searches and annotated bibliography development.

 

REQUISITE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be interested in the research topics, have basic familiarity with data analysis (preferably using R though this is not required), and have great organizational skills.
