CSAP Predoc: U.S. Election Data and Quantitative Methods

This position is part of The Center for the Study of American Politics (CSAP) Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program, which is affiliated with the Tobin Center/Economics Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program. The CSAP predoc program provides a high-quality education and training in quantitative political science research for individuals who are considering pursuing a Ph.D. in political science or a closely related discipline. Project and Position Description:

The CSAP predoc will work with the Principal Investigator to manage and analyze election data at small geographies (precincts, Census tracts) matched to surveys and ballot images. Projects will largely focus on U.S. elections in the last twenty years, often with a survey statistics or causal inference component.  The fellow will closely work with the PI and other researchers while developing best-practice skills in software development, applied statistics, and political science academic writing.  The initial one-year appointment may be extended to two years.

 

Requisite Skills and Qualifications:

Experience with the R statistical software,  election data, and coursework in statistics or quantitative political methodology.  Experience with R statistical software, election data analysis, and coursework in statistics or quantitative political methodology.
