PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Our team of professors is seeking to hire a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as a Postgraduate Research Associate.

 

The candidate will provide research assistance on projects such as:

• evaluating the unintended consequences of raising felony theft thresholds;

• exploring the cities’ climate risk disclosures and the effects of climate-adaption funding policies;

• investigating how budgetary policies affect local governments’ investment in public infrastructure; and

• studying the effects of reporting transparency on the stability of banking system.

 

The successful applicant will work with faculty at the Yale School of Management to collect data, maintain databases, conduct statistical and textual analyses, assist with the preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents, and provide other support associated with faculty research. Candidates should have a long-term interest in pursuing economics-related research (finance, accounting, economics, or public policy). This position presents an opportunity to begin training for a career in research. By working with faculty, the successful candidate will enhance their understanding of empirical research and improve their econometric skills. The postgraduate research associate will be encouraged to interact with faculty and attend various research seminars across disciplines. The position serves as a steppingstone to doctoral studies.

 

The preferred start date is July 1, 2024, although other dates may be considered. The position is for up to two years.

 

REQUISITE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should be completing or have completed an undergraduate or master’s degree, have a strong quantitative background, and possess strong programming skills. Preference will be given to detail-oriented applicants with previous research and programming experience, particularly in working with large datasets and using R, Stata, SQL, Python, and/or SAS.
