Delaney Parrish

Director of Strategic Communications and Outreach

Delaney Parrish is the Director of Strategic Communications and Outreach at the Tobin Center where she oversees the development of digital, media, and other communications strategies to help the center achieve its goals.

Delaney brings to Tobin more than fifteen years of experience in policy communications and a passion for building bridges between researchers and the stakeholders and communities most affected by their work. Until recently, she worked as an independent consultant, advising academic departments, nonprofits, and other researchers and policy experts on a broad range of communications activities. She's built websites and brands from the ground up, advised leading academics on how to interact with the media, and helped organizations and individuals use social media and other digital tools to share new ideas and influence policy conversations.

Before her time as a consultant, Delaney worked for several years at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., including as Communications Director for its Economic Studies program. At Brookings, she supported dozens of economic policy experts on their research activities, oversaw the production of the program's biannual journal, The Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, and managed a busy media relations shop that connected Brookings experts to media outlets around the globe.

After many years in Washington, Delaney relocated with her family to Chicago, Illinois. She holds a B.A. from Virginia Tech and an M.A. in strategic communications from American University.
