CSAP Predoc: AI/ML Approaches to The Study of American Politics

This position is part of The Center for the Study of American Politics (CSAP) Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program, which is affiliated with the Tobin Center/Economics Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program. The CSAP predoc program provides a high-quality education and training in quantitative political science research for individuals who are considering pursuing a Ph.D. in political science or a closely related discipline. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Researchers will consider novel computational approaches to the empirical and theoretical study of American politics. Potential topics include adversarial learners for campaign strategies, large language models (and similar transformers) for political behavior, mechanism design, and machine learning-assisted statistical estimation of political economic models. 

 

REQUISITE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates will be expected to have a strong background in mathematics (e.g., real analysis) and willingness to engage with theoretical CS (e.g., dynamic programming, analysis of algorithms). Programming skills in Python strongly preferred.
