Equity Impacts of Dollar Store Vaccine Distribution
Published: April 2021
Researchers sought to understand the impact of a potential federal partnership with Dollar General on vaccination rates for low-income and minority households.
Using geospatial data, researchers evaluate the potential role of the Dollar General in providing vaccines for socially vulnerable populations. Researchers find that, compared to current locations of federal vaccine distribution sites, Dollar Generals are in areas closer to low-income and minority households and would allow the Biden administration to surpass its goal of providing vaccination sites within 5 miles of 90% of the population.
