CONNECTICUT GOVERNOR’S SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY STRATEGY FELLOWS

ABOUT THE POSITION: 

Governor Ned Lamont is seeking talented individuals to serve as contracted fellows to support Connecticut’s social and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic by designing, managing, and strengthening programs that support vulnerable populations. Fellows will support Commissioners and senior staff of numerous agencies and offices on high-priority matters and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role will be aligned with candidates’ skills and interests. Opportunities include:
• Developing health policy assessments and special projects that aim to improve the health and wellbeing
of Connecticut’s Medicaid and CHIP recipients;
• Launching universal home visiting and community health worker programs;
• Making social services (SNAP, WIC, TANF) easier for families to discover, apply for, and maintain;
• Executing on strategic workforce policy priorities together with other state agencies and designing new
policies and programs centered around economic development; and
• Developing and pursuing projects in other relevant policy areas based on your experience and interest.

While the individual nature of each fellowship will vary, deliverables may include:
• Designing and implementing new recovery programs leveraging federal relief funds;
• Crafting new policies and improving existing ones to promote equitable, inclusive recovery through
research, stakeholder engagement, and analysis;
• Coordinating efforts and resources across agencies and stakeholder groups; and
• Partnering with towns, cities, and non-profits to implement critical programs and services.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• BA required; MBA, JD, MPP, MBA, MPH, or MEd preferred
• 4-8 years of work experience, with a track record of achievement and ability to work independently in
fast-paced work environments and lead projects from start to finish
• Proven ability to work comfortably across sectors and among a diversity of stakeholders
• Relevant subject matter and/or functional expertise
• Passion for public service and willingness to learn
• Strong written and verbal communication

SCHEDULING: 

• Fellows will be contracted for one year starting on or around July 15th, 2022, for a total compensation
not to exceed $100,000.
• The State may extend the initial contract period.
• Preference will be given to candidates based in/near Connecticut.
