Catherine Ishitani

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Catherine Ishitani is an applied microeconomist whose work sits at the intersection of health economics and industrial organization. She will join Columbia University as an Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management in 2026. She received her A.B. from Princeton University and her Ph.D. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and completed her pre-doctoral training at the University of Southern California Schaeffer Center. Her research on generic drug quality has been recognized by the American Society of Health Economists, and her coauthored paper, “The Corporatization of Independent Hospitals” received the National Institute for Health Care Management Research Award.
